PRIO CORPORATION EXPANDS SALES FORCE TO SUPPORT GROWTH IN RETAIL, INDEPENDENT O.D. MARKETS (Beaverton, OREGON) PRIO Corporation, the market leader in the field of computer vision care, has hired a new vice president to expand PRIO's interest in the retail market; and a new sales executive to support the company's continued growth within the independent ECP arena. Richard D. Mark, who previously managed the sales forces at Vision-Ease and Cooper Vision, joins PRIO as Vice President of National Accounts. "With Rick Mark on board and as a result of his contacts in the national retail market, we're now poised to further our partnerships with the leading ophthalmic retailers," said Jon Torrey, President/CEO of PRIO Corp. "Retail represents a huge segment of the marketplace, with the managed care environment driving more and more consumers - many of whom use computers regularly -- to the large chains. Now, their customers will be able to benefit from the same quality computer vision care that independent computer vision specialists have been providing their patients for years." Mark, who lives in San Jose, California, has also worked for Pilkington Barnes Hind and Bristol-Myers Squibb. He has seen the growing interest in computer vision care from the retail industry in recent years. "I'm thrilled to be a part of the PRIO family and look forward to bringing computer vision care into the national retail market," he said. "The timing is perfect. Retail optical is always looking for vital ways of improving eye care. Computer vision care is a niche that is on the verge of exploding, and PRIO has been the force behind building the computer vision care market in the entire industry." "I'm delighted with the addition to our team," continued Torrey. "With the tremendous growth in the computer vision care market, we can now provide the best in quality service to our growing network of retail and independent computer vision specialists." PRIO Corporation markets The Complete Computer Vision System, including the PRIO Vision Tester -- the only FDA Class 1 medical device that simulates a computer screen, allowing the doctor to accurately diagnose and treat CVS. This "one-stop shopping" marketing approach offers retailers and independent ECP's a complete line of PRIO lenses, frames, and clips for their computer-using customers. PRIO also markets the children's Complete Computer Vision System. The PRIO KIDS Computer Eyewear Collection, includes an in-office display with "kid friendly" frames and clip-ons, in addition to the PRIO Kids diagnostic instrument.
